Sorry for months of hiatus since my last blog. I was truly busy at work but in the mean time I am also hard at work preparing updates to my blog.

There’s lots of life events happened around me during the last 6 months, which has touched me and changed my view of things and how life should be lived.

Lomography: Capturing daily life with style

My very first Lomography prints

On April, Lomography Hong Kong held a roadshow for the first time at Times Square. I have long been interested joining as a Lomographer since it’s product seen at CitySuper stores and the interest is further fueled with Instagram – the iPhone app and an Internet community sharing “lomo” like photos.

This exhibition gave me an opportunity to learn more about the Lomography community in Hong Kong and has landed me the first Lomo camera: The Lomo LC-A+. It’s a top-of-line Lomo camera at the time I purchased, now replaced by the flagship Lomo LC-Wide.

The Lomo LC-A+ camera is created in honor the very original Russian made Lomo LC-A camera debuted in 1984. With the camera, it’s most important feature is the Russian made lens, as subsequent models are with lens made in China (this might not view as a big deal to many, but it does has differences in terms of picture texture); besides the lens, it uses 35mm film, with 4-step focus selection, fully-automatic exposure detection and multiple exposure. Photos taken with this camera are famous for it’s slightly-dark-and-blurry edges and unexpected color textures.

I’ve chosen this camera over the other likes including the Diana-F or Sprocket Rocket because of: 1. It’s smaller size; 2. Ease of use; 3. the Multiple Exposure feature; 4. The ability to install an instant-back for instant photos; 5. and in terms of art I will have the unexpected colors for every pictures I took with this camera.

The Lomo LC-A+ camera is come packaged with a nice wooden “crate”, along with a very-thick Lomo LC-A+ book, cable release, and two rolls of 35mm film. Here’s some unboxing photos of my camera:

Talking back to Lomography, what is it? In the world nowadays when almost everything’s being dominated by digital, people including me starting to miss the heritages: just like when people now wanted to preserve old buildings; that’s no exception to photos and that’s what Lomography’s all about – fronting the analogue film photography and it’s “unexpected” nature when taking photos. And there has “Ten Golden Rules” of Lomography:

  1. Take your camera everywhere you go
  2. Use it any time – day and night
  3. Lomography is not an interference in your life, but part of it
  4. Try the shot from the hip
  5. Approach the objects of your lomographic desire as close as possible
  6. Don’t think (william firebrace)
  7. Be fast
  8. You don’t have to know beforehand what you captured on film
  9. Afterwards either
  10. Don’t worry about any rules

Defining: Love

Finding the definition of Love…

“…can refer to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes, ranging from generic pleasure (“I loved that meal”) to intense interpersonal attraction (“I love my partner”). “Love” can also refer specifically to the passionate desire and intimacy ofromantic love, to the sexual love of eros (cf. Greek words for love), to the emotional closeness of familial love, or to the platonic love that defines friendship,[4] to the profound oneness or devotion of religious love…” -Wikipedia article on Love

The above context is explaining what I wanted to blog about in the topic of love. It’s not solely about interpersonal romantic relationships – it’s a description of the feelings of an individual towards just about anything.

Lovemore.hk

There’s an interesting and truly meaningful project – “Lovemore.hk 你還可愛麼“, learnt when I was browsing the blog of 卓韻芝. This voluntary project gathers creative personel around Hong Kong to create short films related to the topic of “Is Hong Kong people still able to love?” – That is, to love the people around you, the ones you don’t know, or actually care about them – especially to those most people might have been forgotten: the old ones, the ones who worked hard for a living (against the “loveless” government.)

The project has deeply inspired and reminded me the bits of “love” Hong Kong people are losing. Nowadays the HK people can only remember one thing: “No Money, No Talk”. It is cruel to see Hong Kong’s being overrun by Big Name Developers-Monopoly and Landlords – they have been controlling the living of every HK people to the degree of almost unescapable. When you’re watching the news, or reading the paper, the news of inflation is always cannot be avoided.

TVB news has been documenting about the issue again and again:

It seems that in Hong Kong there’s not much people who cares about the group who loss the most of love – they’re losing the love from the community, they’re losing the love from the ones around them – the most touched example is that the old ones – the ones who was to build the modern Hong Kong to the golden age we’re now at – are now the least cared and just sitting at Retirement Homes (安老院), hopelessly waiting for their final days.

Who loves them?

Finding the Love of… Mine

I admit that I do sometimes diving into kinda “depression”, when thinking of my experiences: including failure attempts of, you know, romantic love; or just seeing friends around me have found their partners.

There’s still time, however, for it. It’s no hurry for this.

After reading the Lovemore project, I feel that I’d rather be finding the ultimate goal of love: Making everyone feel the love.

I’d rather be happier when the ones around me are happy; I’d rather be happier to help my friends resolving their relationships on their own romantic love.

When everyone feels the love, they’d be happy – and when I see them happy, I’d be happier.

Sounds stupid? It’s nothing shit I’m writing on here. Feel the love and be happy, people!

我不能得到愛,不緊要。只要我還可「愛」,令他人有「愛」,我就滿足了。你,還可「愛」嗎?

Life In A Day…of me

July 24th was definitely a special day certain people of the world, as that was the day of Life In A Day -

“a historic global experiment to create a user-generated feature film, shot in a single day, by you. On July 24, you have 24 hours to capture a glimpse of your life on camera. The most compelling and distinctive footage will be edited into an experimental documentary film, produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Kevin Macdonald. The film will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2011 and will be available right here on YouTube. If your footage makes it into the finished film, you’ll be credited as a co-director and you could be one of 20 contributors brought to Sundance to celebrate with Kevin Macdonald.” – YouTube Life In A Day page. I was first noticed this interesting event months ago and started planning what I’d film on the day. My view on making such videos is just, be natural, be myself. I was once decided to film the day of myself’s life for 24 hours – by obviously technical constraints and some little stuffs prevented me to do so.

So what I’ve actually filmed on the day? That was once just another of my normal day, the day that I’ve to work. What I’ve shot is video about myself (just like kinda introduction), during en-routing to work and some bits of my guitar session – that was surely a challenge of my “braveness” to film such kinds of videos.

So lets be finger-crossed in hope of my videos could make into the final film!

For me, this is the thing…

There’s a thing, for me is like, kinda, never been a good ending.

The poor child has never been a chance to have a taste that.

Isn’t that I’ve been too selective? Isn’t that I’ve always into the wrong way?

Why is that when I alway feel like the thing is right for me, but turns out the thing not feel like I’m right?

What I want, is just a little chance.

Isn’t that gonna be impossible for me?

How long’s gonna for me to wait?

How longer?

Rescue me.

#DailyFact: Chris’ best band: Paramore.

Paramore. From: http://artrusche.com/

Paramore. The band I’m definitely dying for. It’s Hayley, Josh, Zac, Jeremy and Taylor, that rocks, catchy and produces great sound. My love with them all started when I first caught in their single, Misery Business, and has caught my attention with Haylie’s great great great voice.

Their genre is just so match in my listening style, it is rock, it has great attractive vocal and easily memorable rhythms.

Hope you’ll like them too! Just search around Youtube for Paramore and start listenin!

#DailyFact: Chris cooks too!

Me busy in cooking.

As with my love of coffee that has sparked since my time at Australia, my love of cooking starts then, too! I’m trained with cookery skills at that time and since then I’ve fell in love in cooking and got a “taste” on new dishes to cook every time. I will be cooking when I have enough free time and ideas for some new excitement on tastes. My latest very own creation was the Steamed Eggwhite-thing back on January. Currently I guess I’m a bit busy and so it’s hardly for myself to cook again.

Don’t forget to check along on this blog for my cookery sharing posts!!
